Two of Swords

Guiding words/ideas:

A decision or choice needs to be made; a need to practice setting external and internal boundaries to have a clear mind; a need to create boundaries around external influences like media and others’ opinions; creating internal boundaries around one’s own thoughts and running monologue; encouragement to engage in regular practice for mental clarity; a clear mind leads to connection to oneself and others; a clear mind leads to easy decision making.

Channeled guidance:

The “two’s” often refer to duality. This human might need to make an important decision or choice. But to do so, they need a clear mind.

In this card, two swords are carefully and confidently placed at the front of the sternum of a human. They cradle the heart area and also create a strong energetic space around the head. In doing so, this human has created a safe and boundaried space for their mind. The swords cut through confusion and allow for clarity, introspection, and insight.

Externally, the swords are protecting this human’s mind from outside influences that may muddy their mental state. These influences can be in the form of information from other humans or other beings and/or input from media, institutions, and societal “norms.” These external sources are not necessarily bad, but there comes a time to set clear boundaries so that the mind can settle. This allows for the open mindset required for insight and intuition. The state of mind conducive to deep spiritual work needs this kind of protection from time to time. So the two swords encourage one to practice setting boundaries and limiting outside influence.

The Two of Swords also encourages us to set internal boundaries with our own thoughts and looping monologue, and from time to time to clear these thoughts out. There are various practices that are helpful for this. Mindfulness Meditation is one. There are also various sound and physical practices that can help. Each individual gets to choose what works for them. If possible, regular practice in setting external and internal boundaries can be very valuable for the mind and can move one in the direction of opening to insight and intuition.

There is a lot going on in this card behind and around this human, and yet their face shows us that they are calm. Having a calm and quiet mind is a very beautiful thing. It allows for a deep connection to oneself. That connection to oneself trickles out and allows us, when ready, to be in deep connection with others as well. And when one is connected to oneself, decisions can be made easily and without regret.

Plant and metal guidance:

Black walnut (dark brown texture in background): The strength of our magic lies in our ability to clear space and provide opportunities for recharging and resetting.

Acorn cap (light brown and grey texture in background): Like a gentle pat on the head, we offer up slow-moving energy to open the senses and awaken the mind.

Logwood (blue “moon” or orb over head): Our color connects outwardly but its source lies deep within. We help you reach inside yourself to find strength and beauty.

Chokeberry (dark purple tunic): Our energy expands and contracts as needed, and we encourage you to do the same. We offer a rich balm for your wounds and a burst of energy to be used when you need it.

Weld (brown/yellow swords): Our energy is dense, warm and saturated, bringing with it a feeling of solidity and calm.
