Ten of Wands

Guiding words/ideas:

Too much activity; making changes to reduce load; delegation and discernment are needed; awareness of people-pleasing leading to overcommitment; ungrounded action as ineffective and possibly even hurtful; a call for humility; you cannot do everything yourself: do less, share more, work in community, slow down, ground.

Channeled guidance:

When there are too many actions occurring, it is overwhelming and unsustainable. In this card, a human is attempting to hold ten wands. They seem overwhelmed. It looks as though they might drop one at any moment. There are too many wands (an overabundance of activity). Fire is spilling over the edges of the card and creeping close to this human’s hair.

This is a moment of reckoning. How much action is too much? When one has become involved in and absorbed with so many different things, it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to ground, have clarity, and work with intention and wholeness. Sometimes too much is simply too much. The invitation here is to accept this overabundance of activity and make some changes. Which wands can you put down? Which wands can you hand to another? Which wands are not even necessary? Maybe they were picked up at a moment of fear or people-pleasing.

A wand has no power in and of itself. It is a conduit for energy. But a conduit needs a ground, and these wands need the grounding of this human. The human is essential. If the human is not able to ground, the wands are not only ineffective but might also even be dangerous and hurtful to others. In this way, doing too many things in an ungrounded way might indeed be hurtful to other beings. It is not in the best interest of all that is.

Take this invitation to ascertain what condition you find yourself in, how many activities you’re involved in, and how grounded and clear you are. If there is too much going on, trust me, dear one, it is not good for you or any other being. And so there is also a call for humility in this card. You cannot do everything by yourself.

Do less. Share more. Work in community. Slow down. Ground. And then move ahead with a renewed sense of self, connectivity, and purpose.

Plant and metal guidance:

Chokeberry (dark purple background): Our energy expands and contracts as needed, and we encourage you to do the same. We offer a rich balm for your wounds and a burst of energy to be used when you need it.

Coreopsis (golden “fire” at top of card): We are here to smooth out any sharp edges and to aid in opening hearts.

Copper Oxide dropped in coreopsis (orange of “fire”): I magnify the properties of whatever plants I touch or impact.

Black walnut (brown wands): The strength of our magic lies in our ability to clear space and provide opportunities for recharging and resetting.

Acorn cap (grey and light brown wands): Like a gentle pat on the head, we offer up slow-moving energy to open the senses and awaken the mind.
