Eight of Wands

Guiding words/ideas:

Communication; many ways to express (physically, vocally, visually and telepathically); being clear in communication; when sharing, being courageous, skillful and discerning; choice of medium is important so that message is received; channeling.

Channeled guidance:

All animals communicate in a myriad of ways. For humans, these expressions happen physically (through expressive arts, facial expression, body language, and/or hand gestures), vocally (with words, sounds, and music), visually (through the written word or imagery), or telepathically, when possible. Even a gentle hand on a shoulder or a warm meal served with love express intention. There are so, so many ways to communicate.

The Eight of Wands is about communication—about being clear with what and how you want to communicate. It is an encouragement to be courageous in sharing what is important to you, wise in communicating in the most skillful way, and discerning in using the best possible medium to deliver it.

The choice of medium is crucial because humans give and receive in many ways. The ways of giving were discussed already. As for receiving, it is helpful to remember that information comes in through all the senses and is then filtered through memories and imprints of experiences. So if the message is important (and this card suggests that it is), you must curate your message carefully, deliver it purposefully, and in just the right way so that your intention is heard or absorbed in a meaningful way.

There is so much strength in this card. This being is strong in their legs, clear in the language of their arms and hands, focused in the direction of their eyes and their voice, and they are receiving energy from the wands above. This could be viewed as channeling. At the very least, this human is receiving energy to help with the delivery of the message.

Plant and metal guidance:

Coreopsis (yellow in background): We are here to smooth out any sharp edges and to aid in opening hearts.

Black walnut (brown skin, hair and wands): The strength of our magic lies in our ability to clear space and provide opportunities for recharging and resetting.

Wild grape (purple in shirt): We are the bubbly magicians of the edges (of forests, our fields and our minds). We share with you our positivity, creativity and trickster capabilities.

Logwood (blue pants): Our color connects outwardly but its source lies deep within. We help you reach inside yourself to find strength and beauty.
