There is a dance of duality in this card, the Two of Pentacles. Depicted are two images being juggled quite adeptly and very confidently. These Pentacles look like many things: flames, eyes, cells, planets, barnacles. Whatever they look like to you, whatever they represent to you, this figure is showing you how much skill you might actually have in this arena of juggling, of handling more than one thing at a time. They are not overwhelmed by this. In fact, the action is joyful. Maybe they are even showing off a bit. The figure is comfortable in their body. The dark brown of their skin and the dark blue of their clothing create a sense of strength and solidity.
Humans often get overwhelmed with choices. “Should I do this or should I do that?” According to this card, the answer is “Yes! You should do this, and you should do that.” You should play with them both. You can ask new questions: “How do they balance each other? How do these two things interact with each other?” Maybe they can be juggled so quickly that you can’t even discern one from the other. They become a blur in their juggled states.
Skilled jugglers know that the activity of juggling is stepping into flow and creating a circle. One thing replaces the other. There is an arc to the juggled objects. There is acceptance of their weight as it comes down. There is never a still moment. Juggling is about the acceptance of gravity and movement and the joy of being inside the flow.
This card begs you to not be scared of choices. For all things are connected, all things can have an element of play. There is nothing here to be feared. The more you work on this skill, the stronger you’ll become and the more sensitive your hands will be. And the more pleasurable this dance of duality will become.
