Guiding words/ideas:
Roots; nourishment coming from below; connecting with the planet and all of their creatures; being as generous with other beings as the Earth is with you; connecting to your ancestors (by blood, energy or shared intentions); asking for help and guidance from these “roots.”
Channeled wisdom:
The six cups that you see in this card are like an archway in the sky. They act as nourishing and warming suns to the three plants below. These plants seem happy, balanced, and peaceful. And their strength comes from their roots. So much nourishment comes from not just what is above, as in the sun, but also from what is below, as in one’s roots, the roots of one’s past. What is it that connects you deeply to this planet? How can you ground and nourish yourself?
The earth is infinitely generous and has many nutrients and minerals to give to you, unquestioningly, if you could be so wise as to connect with the planet; if you could be so humble as to admit that you need their help; if you could be so egoless as to admit that this life is not just about you. Who are the other plants that live near you? Who basks in the same sun, is watered by the same rains, and is nourished by the same ground? Do your roots intermingle? How do you communicate? What can you give to each other?
This card suggests two things. The first is that you be as generous with other creatures as the Earth is with you. Can you, in your abundance, share without hesitation and with love? These could be little things, even just a smile—anything that helps to nourish other beings.
The second suggestion is that you investigate your relationship with your root system. What nourishes you now? What nourished you earlier in this life? What has nourished you in past lives? What other creatures are you connected to through your roots? Who are your relatives, not through DNA or blood but by shared intentions, knowledge, or even energy? Who are your energetic ancestors, and what planets and stars have you all come from?
Allow yourself to dig so deeply into your roots that you see the vast network that is there. Ask for help from your ancestors, who are loving and generous with you and who want to pass on their wisdom and their magic. Don’t worry about the rest. A root need only pull up what nourishes. If it is not nourishing, let it be.
