The Lovers card brings our attention to beings who are loving each other. They are engaged in both loving and being loved. They are relating to each other in deep and beautiful ways. The two elephants you see are strong and gentle, their trunks entwined around each other’s. Behind them is a flurry of activity. The purple, criss-crossing, and swirling lines represent both the energetic brilliance of love and the interconnectivity among all beings.
Elephants are wise and sacred creatures. They are loyal and create strong bonds within their community. Their presence and connection in this card reminds us that within the multitude of love relationships available, it is necessary to make choices, to set boundaries, and to attend to the love that exists with care. On this planet, love is ever-present, but it does require conscious care. Love that is nurtured can be a source of strength and a foundation for one’s life.
Remember the importance of your relationship to yourself. If you lean into the wisdom that there is no separation between the self and other, this notion of “self love” can expand out into love for others, love for one’s community, even love for the entire planet. Loving yourself becomes an act of loving all beings.
