Guiding words/ideas:
Something ending; something beginning; allowing space for what needs to be born; opportunity; transformation
Channeled guidance:
This card practically hums with activity. This may seem odd to some humans, for many of you have been taught that death is an ending, a stillness, a finality. And yet, death is full of life.
The Death card is about just this: the energy of when an ending becomes a beginning. This is a magical space of transition, of particles separating, reconfiguring, and then beginning again. All beings die. That is part of life on this planet. But there is no death without birth, and all things are also born.
In this card, we see a skull smiling, surrounded by the fertility of decomposition and re-composition. The flower above is a symbol of new life. When one pulls this card, it is a sign that something is about to end and something else is about to begin.
Death creates space for what needs to be born. The ending (that is about to become a beginning) might not even be a human or anything in the physical realm. It could be an idea, an identity, an old narrative, or a relationship; it could even be a particular vibration that needs to quiet so that a new vibration can come about. And so the Death card is also about opportunity and transformation.
Plant and metal guidance:
Fern (imprinted in the background and on the skull): We are ancient beings, from a long lineage of strength and patience. We hope to transfer these qualities to the humans who need them.
Copper Oxide (as mordant allowing the fern to imprint): I magnify the properties of whatever plants I touch or impact.
Logwood (background, skull): Our color connects outwardly but its source lies deep within. We help you reach inside yourself to find strength and beauty.
Lac (all of the pink colors): We gently nudge you towards transformation and change.
Coreopsis (yellow at the bottom): We are here to smooth out any sharp edges and to aid in opening hearts.
Avocado (orange at the bottom): We relate to the heart and core of all beings, and thus share energies of love, sense of purpose and deep connection.
